Faucetworks is a Delaware-incorporated limited liability company founded in 2018.  Headquartered in Emeryville, California, Faucetworks maintains a product development and testing laboratory in Napa.  Faucetworks is led by 

 

   

Mark K. Borsody, M.D., Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer

 

Dr. Borsody is a stroke neurologist and serial medical device entrepreneur who has served as medical director for major pharmaceutical stroke programs including AstraZeneca's NXY059, Lundbeck's desmoteplase, and Genentech's Activase (rtPA).

 

Renata Barreto

Vice President - Regulatory 

 

Ms. Barreto is a Jurisprudence and Social Policy Ph.D. candidate at the University of California – Berkeley School of Law who graduate focus is on medical uses for artificial intelligence.  She is a Eugene-Cota Robles Fellowship awardee and Fellow of the American Political Science Association.

 

Grace Montenegro

Vice President - Engineering

 

 Ms. Montenegro is an experienced product development manager who has 13 years managing information technology and computer services for major European and Latin American corporations.  She is completing a Masters degree in electrical engineering at Sonoma State University.

 

 

The Programming Team

 

The Faucet programming team is composed of artificial intelligence engineers who have extensive experience in computer vision, natural language processing, and artificial neural network development.

 

         

Sushma Macha, M.S.

Ms. Macha is a graduate of San Jose State University's Department of Computer Engineering who specializes in healthcare uses of artificial intelligence.  She has established artificial neural networks using TensorFlow and Python platforms to diagnose diabetes and to provide image processing of radiographic images.

 

Turese Anderson

Ms. Anderson is a senior student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California - Berkeley.  She is experienced with graphics and user interface design, and is a practiced graphics artist.

 

Aydin Hau

Mr. Hau is a senior student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California - Berkeley.  He has a background in full-stack development and machine learning, and has worked on virtual reality technology for healthcare.

Faucetworks collaborates with NeuroSpring (www.neurospring.org), a 501(c)(3) public charity that supports neuroscience research, to obtain unbiased medical and scientific input on the Faucet AID.

 

Scientific Advisors

   

 

Mark Hasegawa-Johnson, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Hasegawa-Johnson is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois – Urbana’s Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.  He is a world-recognized authority in computer recognition of human speech and speech pathology, with specific experience in the use of artificial intelligence-based processes for medical uses.

 

Lela Mirtskhulava, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Mirtskhulava is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the Tbilisi State University (Georgia).  She has 20-years’ experience in computer programming and artificial neural network research.  Her specific interest is in the use of AIDs for the diagnosis of emergency medical conditions and she is the inventor of the stroke AID described in the Research Strategy. 

 

 

Medical Advisors

     

Phil Gorelick, M.D., M.P.H

Dr. Gorelick is Chairman of the Department of Neurology and Director of Stroke Research at the University of Illinois – Chicago. He has served in leadership roles for numerous clinical treatment trials and has received the National Stroke Association’s Visionary in Stroke award.

  

 

James Grotta, M.D.

Dr. Grotta is Director of the Mobile Stroke Unit Consortium of the Texas Medical Center. He has played a leadership role in many clinical research treatment trials examining neurologic emergencies. NIH presently funds his research into pre-hospital treatment of stroke in ambulances.

 

   

 

 

 Ed Jauch, M.D.

Dr. Jauch is former Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and current Chief of System Research at Mission Health.  In addition to being a practicing emergency medicine physician, he is an Adjunct Professor in Biomedical Engineering at Clemson.

Jeff Saver, M.D.

Dr. Saver is a Professor of Neurology at the University of California - Los Angeles and  Director of the Stroke and Vascular Neurology Program.  He organized and directed the FAST-MAG clinical trial, one of the largest ambulance-based clinical trials testing the effectiveness of a novel emergency treatment for stroke.
